Izumi Kitajima, CPHC®
Senior Project Manager, Certified Passive House Consultant
Izumi moved to the United States from Japan in 1996 when she followed her path of architectural training. She received her master’s degree in architecture from the University of Kansas, where she participated in Studio 804. In this project, students designed and built a 1200 square foot house. Through that experience, she came to believe that only houses built with a high level of design excellence, sustainability and craftsmanship can really come to life for their owners.
Joining the firm after graduation, in addition to focusing on building detailing and three-dimensional modeling, she has led our firm’s effort in building energy modeling and building science.
She has not looked back, when in 2009 she became a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC). In 2017 she joined the Board of the Passive House Institute of Japan (PHIJP) and still continues to serve as one of their US liaisons. In 2018 she became a certified CPHC trainer for Phuis. She has also received advanced training in WUFI+ Dynamic Energy Modeling software.
